头韵（alliteration）是英语中利用发音制造特殊效果的一种修辞方式.通常是在连续的几个词中,开头的辅音重复,有时开头的元音重复也可以叫头韵.头韵是一种很古老的辞格,也是英语中最早出现和使用的辞格.各种工具书对其的定义不尽相同.头韵在西方报刊更是广为运用,如：Flu Fever（流感导致恐慌,《新闻周刊》）,The Senators vs the Spooks （参议员和情报员之争,《时代》）,Hong Kong,A Capitalist Citadel at China's Doorstep,A Booming Bastion of Business（香港——中国大门的资本主义要塞——兴旺的企业堡垒,美国《读者》）等等.英语成语和习语中,头韵也屡见不鲜,如：neither fish nor flesh不伦不类,in for a penny,in for a pound 一不做,二不休.
